NaHaiWriMo – Feb 11th

Today’s prompt is “the woods.” Inspiration comes from the recent massive snows and Hiroshige’s depiction of a rare heavy snow in the rural town of Kamabara (53 Stations of the Tokaido).

Today’s prompt is “garden.” Once again, my inspiration is a Japanese woodblock print, this one celebrating the national flower.

NaHaiWriMo – February 6th Writing Prompt

Today’s prompt is “rice,” so I turned to the ukiyo-e master, Hiroshige, for inspiration within his “53 Stations of the Tokaido” series. Travelers along the Tokaido line, from Edo to Kyoto, stopped along the way to rest and refresh. Depicted here is the Ishibe station, in a lonely spot near Lake Biwa.
